Irritable Bowel Syndrome
A 54-year-old woman had been having IBS for over ten years. She
would have to go to the bathroom to move her bowel 3 to 5 times in one
day at least twice a week. At high stress, she would have loose
stools and more frequent bowel movements for up to two weeks.
When she came in, she had been having pain under her ribs on the right
side for the past month. She went to have an ultrasound but no
abnormality was found in the gallbladder. With the initial
acupuncture treatment, the pain underneath the ribs was gone
completely. She continued to have acupuncture once a week and
drinking a customized herbal formula. Her bowel movements became
regular and she rarely had the periods of frequent bowel movements and
diarrhea.
