Knee Pain
Case1
A 43-year old female dancer with knee pain and structural problems
since childhood has been receiving acupuncture treatments at
HolliBalance for the past 6 months. Prior to the treatment,
exercising and dancing caused her knees to swell, causing pain for
weeks on end. The swelling and pain no longer occur
post-exercise now that she has been receiving acupuncture. Pain
that she previously had with regards to daily activities, such as
walking up and down stairs, has also been alleviated. She also
had work-related anxiety, indigestion, and difficulty sleeping.
Acupuncture treatment at HolliBalance has also relieved these
conditions. After having acupuncture for 4 months, she mentioned
that she sometimes experience restless leg syndrome, especially during
the summer time. She was having restless leg symptoms during
that week. Just one acupuncture session by Dr. Song utilizing
Dr. Hu’s special combination of points for restless leg syndrome
immediately made her symptoms disappear completely. The symptoms
have not returned since.
Case2
A 63-year-old woman fell on ice in December 2007 and fractured her
left knee cap. Since then she has been recovering with rest and
physical therapy. In January, while she was still on crutches
and had removable cast on her knee, she came to HolliBalance for help
to reduce swelling and speed up the healing process. She says
she normally heals very slowly from any kind of injury. So
after one acupuncture treatment and the use of healing herbal spray,
the swelling and pain reduced for the first time since her
injury. The second time she came she could walk without
crutches. After the third visit, she stopped coming to HolliBalance
Well-Being Center as she felt she was doing well.
Five months later she felt her recovery hit a plateau. Although
she continues with physical therapy she does not feel the normal range
of motion and the pain has not improved for the past two months.
In May, she again came to HolliBalance looking for some help to
speed up the healing process. Right after one acupuncture
treatment, she said she felt the treatment was extremely effective in
reducing the pain in her knee cap that she has been experiencing while
using the stairs. Her partner was also able to see the
improvement. With every acupuncture treatment, Dr. Song has
given her progressively more difficult knee exercises because she was
improving with each visit. After one month, she only feels
occasional discomfort in the knee cap while doing some strenuous
knee-bending exercises.
